Department of Agronomy
Agronomy is the core of all agricultural sciences embracing the management of soil and water in accordance with crop demands, enriching soil with organic matter and plant nutrients, choice of crops and varieties to fit the climate, moisture regulation, drainage, weed management, pest and disease management, harvesting and processing to an extent with view to achieve high production of farm produces and improve living standards of rural. Among all the variances in agriculture, agronomy occupies a pivotal position. Similar to agriculture, agronomy is an integrated and applied aspect of different disciplines of pure sciences.
Vision
- To develop technically skilled, ethically rooted, and entrepreneurially driven leaders in agronomy who, with a deep understanding of interdisciplinary and global contexts, uplift rural communities—particularly farmers—by addressing real-world agricultural challenges through sustainable, innovative, and scalable solutions.
Mission

The Department of Agronomy, as an integral part of the School of Skills and Entrepreneurship at Lokbharati University, is dedicated to:
• Imparting hands-on, skill-based education in crop production, farm management, pest and disease control, irrigation, weed management, and organic farming.
• Promoting innovation and enterprise in sustainable agriculture, agrometeorology, soil and water science, precision farming, horticulture, and post-harvest technology.
• Integrating traditional agricultural wisdom with modern science to co-create scalable solutions for rural livelihoods.
• Encouraging entrepreneurship and micro-enterprise development among rural youth and women.
• Engaging in community-centered research and extension to improve rural quality of life and reduce educational and economic migration.
• Contributing to national initiatives on biodiversity, climate resilience, and rural sustainability through agronomic innovation.
