Department of Agro Processing

The Department of Agro-Processing at the Lokbharati University for Rural Innovation is dedicated to providing students with the knowledge and skills necessary to develop and implement innovative solutions to the challenges faced by rural communities. Our faculty and staff are committed to helping students gain a comprehensive understanding of the agro-processing industry, from production and processing to marketing and distribution. We offer a wide range of courses, from introductory classes to advanced research projects, that provide students with the opportunity to explore the various aspects of agro-processing. We offer a range of courses that cover topics such as food safety, food processing, packaging, and marketing. Our faculty members are experts in their fields and have extensive experience in agro-processing. Our department also provides students with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience through internships and research projects. We have strong ties with local and national agro-processing companies, allowing students to gain valuable insight into the industry and its impact on rural communities. We also offer a range of extracurricular activities, such as field trips and seminars, to help students gain a better understanding of the agro-processing industry and that allow students to network with industry professionals and gain a better understanding of the industry. we are committed to providing our students with the best possible education in agro-processing. To become a center of excellence in agro-processing education and innovation that empowers rural youth and women with vocational skills to add value to agricultural produce, reduce post-harvest losses, and create sustainable livelihoods through rural micro-enterprises.

Mission

The Department of Agro Processing (Vocational) is dedicated to:

  • Delivering hands-on, industry-relevant training in agro-processing, food preservation, packaging, and value addition techniques.
  • Developing job-ready skills and entrepreneurial capabilities in rural youth and women to establish agro-based enterprises.
  • Promoting sustainable and low-cost processing technologies suitable for rural settings.
  • Collaborating with local communities and farmers to co-create scalable agro-processing models that enhance income and food security.
  • Encouraging innovation and incubation of rural food products through technical support and market linkages.
  • Supporting biodiversity and nutritional security through the revival and processing of traditional and underutilized crops.

Reducing post-harvest wastage and rural-to-urban migration by generating local employment opportunities in the agro-processing sector.
