Vision
To develop compassionate, culturally grounded, and socially responsive psychology professionals who apply psychological knowledge to enhance rural well-being, mental health, and community resilience.
Mission
The Department of Applied Psychology is committed to:
- Delivering context-sensitive education in psychology that addresses the mental health needs and psychosocial realities of rural populations.
- Promoting psychological well-being through preventive, developmental, and therapeutic interventions tailored to rural communities.
- Training students in community psychology, counseling, and behavior change communication with a focus on local languages and cultural contexts.
- Conducting action research on rural mental health issues such as stress, addiction, gender-based violence, educational challenges, and migration.
- Collaborating with grassroots organizations and local institutions to design and implement sustainable mental health models.
- Empowering rural youth and women by building emotional intelligence, self-awareness, and leadership capacities.
- Integrating indigenous knowledge systems and holistic approaches to mental wellness alongside contemporary psychological practices.
